Bring your child’s creativity to life at Build a Bug, a fun drop-in make-and-take workshop where children can design and decorate their own colourful insect-inspired stick puppet. Using a variety of shapes, patterns and craft materials, kids will build their bug’s body, wings, eyes and legs before creating a unique creepy-crawly friend to take home. Facilitated by the Helensvale Library Resident Artist, Sarah Gee, this hands-on activity encourages imagination, creativity and playful learning while introducing children to the beauty of native and endangered insect species through art. Participants will also receive a First 5 Forever Library tote bag to carry their bug creation home in. Sarah Gee is a local early career artist whose vibrant illustrations, paintings and textile sculptures are inspired by nature and designed to spark curiosity, joy and care for the environment. Our programs are free for Gold Coast Library members. If you are not a member, you can sign up for free.
